September 2021 Update
President’s Address
The Monash Energy Club Committee hopes that everyone is managing and coping through the more recent lockdowns in Victoria. Undeniably, despite having done this before, we are definitely finding this to be more difficult and a bit of a struggle. If you have been feeling the same, please make sure to reach out to friends and family and talk about how you are feeling. This isn’t something you have to emotionally process alone.
In accompaniment to the mental and emotional struggles of dealing with the lockdowns, the Monash Energy Club is also facing some practicality issues. Our “Brighter Future” Expo that we were looking forward to bringing to you, is now postponed due to the current restrictions. We will now be looking to hold the event towards the end of the year (more details to be confirmed), where we can bring students together in person. Unfortunate as this is, this just gives the Committee more time to make the event even bigger and better for you! Make to sign up to attend and participate! Keep reading for more information about the expo.
2021 Student Expo: A Brighter Future
Research Conference
As we have postponed the student expo, we are now extending the submission of abstracts to the end of October. Don’t forget to submit an abstract if you are interested in giving a presentation of your research, presenting your work as a poster, or both! If you submit a poster for our expo, we will also require you to submit a 5 min video explaining your work, but it means you will also be entering our poster competition. We will be judging all the submitted posters and the chosen winner will be receiving a $1000 cash prize, thanks to the support of MGA! So, make sure to submit an entry!

Energyhack
Our Energyhack is back! We will be hosting our 2021 Energyhack at our Brighter Future Student Expo. The theme for this year will be building a more renewable and sustainable future. Building a better future is up to everyone, so at our Energyhack, everyone will have a chance to be involved! To reach this goal, we will need engineering, progressive policy, flexible markets, and creative minds! If you know about one or more of things, then make sure to participate in our Energyhack. Our winning group will also be walking away with a $1000 cash prize, so make sure to not miss out on this event!

Pursuing Research
If you are interested in shaping the future of energy, then pursuing research is a great opportunity! Applications for Ph.D scholarships at Monash are now open. You can apply for the Zema scholarship which is jointly supported by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) or apply for scholarships that are run in partnership with Woodside Energy and cover themes of new energy technologies, carbon capture, conversion and utilisation or energy leadership.
