March 2021 Update

Our New Committee

a new president’s address

2021 is well and truly on its way, so we feel it's time that we release one of our newsletters. We at the Monash Energy Club, have been busy. We have recruited some new faces for our 2021 committee and we are all excited to work together to produce some great content and events this year! We hope that everyone has been able to enjoy the return to campus, because after a very virtual year, we are looking forward to being able to see our members in person!

To informally introduce myself, my name is Brian and I am the new President of the Monash Energy Club for 2021. I am taking over a tough job from Alex, who was able to achieve some great growth and positive things for the Energy Club during a very difficult 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex for all his hard work throughout 2020, and working to grow the club to what it has become today.

A little bit about myself. I am a PhD student at Monash University, working on producing sustainable chemicals and fuels with the assistance of the bacteria, E. coli. And you're right, that's the bacteria that gives you food poisoning, but it can be used positively to create some beneficial impacts to society, and no I haven't given myself food poisoning yet. I am passionate about energy research and in particular the abundant energy research that is done at Monash. This year I am aiming to bring more exciting events to all the members and highlight all the energy opportunities available, ranging from research opportunities to the companies that you should target.

I am excited to be working as the President this year, and hoping to make a positive energy impact for you all! Watch this space to see what the Monash Energy Club has to offer for 2021!
